Optusnet email issues - update
17 March 2024
In a victory of sorts, Optust have acknowledged that the reason for emails from our websites and mail server not being delivered is a fault at their end that they are aware of and plan to fix, just not immediately.
Below an extract of their response:
- The issue raised was investigated by the Optus network team.
- As per the investigation, Optus needs to do an update in our servers and this should resolve the concerns faced.
- At this stage there is no concrete timeline and this may take up to 3 months
- Optus has stopped selling Optusnet email addressed for new customers.
- Due to limited support you may want to consider looking at setting up email address with an email service provider.
Unfortunately this means that our customers and other users with Optusnet accounts will continue to miss out on email notifications for the immediate future.
So our recommendation remains to switch your email account to a new ISP or ESP. One option now being to attach a mailbox to your domain through the Chirp Email Hosting package.
In other news, we have been upgrading our websites to add DKIM signatures to outgoing emails which will improve deliverability – just not for Optus accounts.
*** UPDATE *** OptusNet email accounts have now been transferred to The Messaging Company - which has different issues.
